Marriage Fellowship – May 2018

IMG_1540

As always, we were blessed at our last Marriage Fellowship with great food, fellowship, and an enriching time in the Word. Here’s a group picture we took at the end of the night (missing Gloria and Johann) and below is the study and link to the notes if you’d like to take some time to invest in your marriage. Pray about joining next time (Saturday, June 9, at 6PM).

Israel – 2018

Our Israel trip was an absolutely amazing experience. It was a trip full of many highlights, and one of the best parts of the trip was getting to go on this spiritual journey with so many in our church family. Having 35 pilgrims is a testament to the work that God is doing through His Word at CCEM, we all went asking the Lord to change us! Our group had a few Israel veterans, but for the most part, it was a bunch of first-timers. Yet it didn’t matter, we were all walking around pinching ourselves saying, “We’re in Israel!!!”

I wish you could have seen the look on everyone’s faces as we stood on the grounds we’ve heard and read about in the Bible. We can tell you about the heavy presence of God in the Garden of Gethsemane, the thrill of walking in the knee-high waters of Hezekiah’s tunnels, or the awe of seeing Masada. We can share what a privilege it was to sail and even swim in the Sea of Galilee, or the honor of being baptized in the Jordan river, the fact that upon walking up to Calvary, (Golgotha) it started pouring rain, even hailing. I’m sure some might even share with you that as we were taking communion at the Garden Tomb, the Muslim call to prayer came soaring through the loudspeakers but we worshiped and prayed right through it – and then it was gone!

None of us will ever forget the experience of visiting the Holy Land. We will never again read or hear a Bible study the same way. As a group, we share these sentiments not to rub it in and say “You should have been there,” but with the hopes that our trip would excite you to go, and invite you to pray. We want you to experience what we did and more.

Shalom,

From your brother Henry and the Israel Bunch – 2018

Manny’s iPhone automatically put together a video from the trip, so here’s a little look at the trip of a lifetime. Pray about joining us in 2020!

2018 Valentine’s Dinner

IMG_0275

We were so blessed to have Pastor Don McClure and his lovely wife Jean join us at our 2018 Valentine’s Dinner. Lots of couples showed up for a great time in the Word, fellowship, and of course food and fun. Pastor Don gave a great message on love, and some of the things that get in the way of us loving our spouses the way that we should. We were laughing, crying, and big time blessed with this Bible Study. Click on the link below to hear the study. Men’s Breakfast

The Men’s Breakfast was a complete blessing! Over 180 guys came out and fellowshipped while enjoying pancakes, eggs, bacon, and potatoes (thank you servants!).  After breakfast, Pastor David Rosales of Calvary Chapel Chino Valley taught a great message on having and being a true friend (like the friends who brought the paralytic man to Jesus – Luke 5:18).  It’s a study geared towards every man! If you haven’t heard it, or you want to listen to it again, you can do so by clicking below.

2014 Men’s Retreat

The men went up to Twin Peaks again this year for the 2014 Calvary Chapel El Monte’s Annual Men’s Retreat. It seems like each year the Men’s Retreat just gets better and better. This year was an outright blessing, for many of the guys it was their first time. Once again we were blessed to partner with Calvary Chapel LAX.

The theme of this year’s conference was “Cross Training.” We were honored to welcome Pastor & Author, Gayle Erwin of Servant Quarters Ministry as our guest speaker. Pastor Gayle has been around ministry & Calvary Chapel for decades, and travels around the globe playing, as he puts it, “the one string on my guitar.” That “one string” is the Nature of Jesus, a message developed over a lifetime of study and experience – a simple message of servant lifestyle.

As always the Twin Peaks Conference center is a great place to be – the facility, staff, and of course the food are always fantastic, but the teachings and fellowship are the highlights every year. God is always faithful to do an amazing work in establishing real brotherhoods between the guys. If for some reason you weren’t able to go with us this year, seriously pray about making plans to go next year, if the Lord wills.

Sister’s Night Out

Sisters Night Out

All the ladies were so blessed to hear Katie Schmitz share from her heart on the trials and triumphs of being a wife, mom, and missionary in Cambodia. We suggest you take some time, open your Bible, maybe get a box of tissues and be encouraged by her words.

Men’s Fellowship BBQ

BBQMAY28

The Men’s Fellowship BBQ was a major blessing. Over 70 guys came out on Wednesday, May 28 for a time of fellowship, breaking bread, worship and a Bible study. It’s so encouraging to see the men gather together for these events. It’s vital to be continually reminded and challenged from God’s Word about our responsibilities as God’s sons! Pastor Tony Scotti from Calvary Chapel Pasadena delivered that challenge as he taught out of 1 Corinthians 9:24-27; a study entitled, “Running our Priorities.” If you weren’t able to make it, Lord willing, you can join us next time!
